2008 NJ YMCA STATE TEAM CHAMPS

Welcome to the Lakeland Hills YMCA Swim Team web site, home of the 2008 New Jersey YMCA State Champions. LHY Swimming has a 37 year tradition of swimming excellence and success on the local, regional and national levels.

Please use this site to obtain information about our team schedules and results, to communicate with the coaching staff, obtain driving directions to other locations, or to review team policies and procedures.

Announcements

      • We have added a mini dryland to ALL swimmers signed up for training at Ginty. Swimmers are to arrive no later than 6:10AM and must wear sneakers. Since the early morning dryland at 5:30AM was canceled, we have decided to create a mini dryland for all swimmers prior to getting in for swim practice. More details will be given at practice.
      • Have no fear - swim practice is here! Just wanted to post ahead of any rain that we practice at Ginty Pool even in the pouring rain. The coaching staff makes the sacrifice for the team to be able to get in the training. In the event of thunder, we do take the precaution to evaucate the pool. Some times it will be thundering near your house, but not at Ginty (I have a deal with Mother Nature) so plan on coming to practice!
      • Information for summer long course meets are now being published on the NJ Swimming website. Swimmers that are members of the 2007-2008 team may participate if they have the qualifying times AND are currently training during the spring and will train in the summer with LHY. Entries for summer meets are different than the winter because we ask for swimmers to positively respond if he/she will be attending a meet for which he/she qualifies. If we do not have more than 5 swimmers per session signed up, we will not attend the meet. As the meet information is available, it is posted on the NJ Swimming website as well as our team's site. We are only attending the 12/u Silver-Bronze, 13/older Silvers, Super Sectionals, and JO's. If a swimmer has qualifying times for Eastern Zone Champs in August, please note that he/she must participate in 2 long course meets to be eligible. Please email the swim team office if you plan on attending any of the meets by the noted deadline on our site (refer to the meet schedules page).
      • In the event of poor weather conditions, please call the YMCA hotline at 973-334-0091 and press "7" at the greeting to get to swim team information. The YMCA does everything possible to remain open. Please use your discretion when traveling in poor weather. Any changes or cancellations to practice or meets will be recorded on the hotline and posted on the website. No messages will be retrieved from the hotline.

David

David Gibson began swimming for Lakeland Hills in 1996 as an 8/under teammate. Over the years of contributing to the team's success at dual meets and championships, David was able to achieve a life long dream of qualifying for the 2005 YMCA National Championships. His swimming success in one of his proudest achievements. He will forever be a part of our team and a very special part of our National Team.
